The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Science
Delaware State University (DSU) is a historically black, American, public university located in Dover. DSU also has two satellite campuses located in Wilmington and Georgetown. The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences provides students at DSU with advanced academic skills and knowledge through teaching, research, and service. Students are instilled with a sense of competency that will help them assume leadership roles in their respective fields of study.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree offers students a hands-on education by involvement in research projects, volunteering at counseling centers, and receiving other types of direct exposure to the study and practice of psychology. Students complete an intensive survey of current theories in psychology while developing professional skills such as writing and research design. The psychology major has a strong multicultural orientation, exploring how factors such as gender, race, culture, and language intersect with the discipline.

University of Delaware
The College of Arts and Sciences
The University of Delaware (UD) is the largest university in Delaware. The main campus is in Newark, with satellite campuses in Dover, Wilmington, Lewes, and Georgetown. It is a medium-sized university with about 16,000 undergraduate and 3,500 graduate students. Although UD receives public funding for being a land-grant, sea-grant, space-grant and urban-grant state-supported research institution, it is also a privately chartered school. Delaware has been labeled one of the “Public Ivies,” a publicly funded university considered as providing a quality of education comparable to more expensive Ivy League schools. US News & World Report Ranked UD the 75th Best Public University in the Country. They were also ranked the 31st best Public School.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree is the most common way to pursue the psychology major at UD. Students must fulfill the university and college requirements, as well as an additional 10 psychology courses.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology requires more courses in:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Math
- Computer Science
- significant research experience
Students following the BS degree path take fewer General Requirement Courses. The Psychology Department recommends the BS track primarily for students who have a strong interest in research and who are considering pursuing Ph.D. level work in Psychology.
Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience
Students with an interest in Neuroscience may pursue the BS in Neuroscience degree through the College of Arts and Sciences. These students will be required to complete a heavy science and research-based curriculum.
4 + 1 – Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Neuroscience
The Department of Psychology at UD offers an exceptional Neuroscience Program, which gives the student a unique opportunity to earn both a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Neuroscience in just five years of study. The program requires students to fulfill coursework for the BS in Neuroscience and coursework for the MS in Neuroscience. They must also complete a research-based Master’s thesis under faculty supervision.

Wesley College is a private, co-educational, liberal arts college, located in Dover. US News & World Report ranked Wesley the 38th Best school in the Northern Region of the United States. The Department of Psychology awards:
