The Healthcare, Nursing and Human Services Department
Opened in 1966, Bellevue University is a private, non-profit university located in Bellevue. With over 10,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, the school offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs. These are offered through accelerated, cohort based, traditional classroom and online programs. In 2016, US News & World Report ranked Bellevue University’s online bachelor’s degrees as the 72nd best overall in the United States. The Healthcare, Nursing and Human Services Department is home to a wide range of programs, including two undergraduate degree options in psychology.
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Bellevue University offers students a BA and BS Psychology major allowing students to find potential solutions to problems faced by people or organizations. The curriculum places a strong focus on psychology as a science. Student develop skills to become effective communicators with an emphasis on oral and written presentation. The coursework allows students to develop critical thinking skills to:
- problem solve
- write research
- gain the analytical skills needed to understand all facets of human behavior
The program studies human behavior from a theoretical and applied direction. Students are prepared to enter graduate programs in psychology or psychology related areas. They are prepared to enter careers in human services.
Psychology majors can conduct empirical or scholarly experiments. They can participate in internship settings to better understanding applications of psychology in human service agencies or other settings.
Students pursuing a BS in Psychology must complete College Algebra and a lab science course. Those pursuing a BA in Psychology must complete a culture course or Spanish and Nutrition or Human Genetics.

Chadron State College
The Department of Counseling, Psychology and Social Work
Founded in 1911, Chadron State College is a public coed college located in Chadron. Enrollment is approximately 3,000 students from across the country. Five of the 25 major buildings on the campus are listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. Chadron State offers Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in over 70 majors and programs.
The Department of Counseling, Psychology and Social Work consists two programs: psychology and social work. The Psychology Department
Founded in 1894 as a Seminary, the University began as a teacher’s school and is located is Seward. It is affiliated with the Lutheran Church as one of 10 schools in the Concordia University System. The university is organized into three schools:

Founded in 1878, Creighton University is a private coed university located in Omaha. Creighton is made up of nine undergraduate, graduate and professional schools and colleges.
