Throughout New Jersey, students can choose from many different programs offering a bachelor’s degree in psychology. While many students in undergraduate psychology plan to pursue a career as a professional psychologist, many do not. A bachelor’s degree in psychology will provide entrance into a number of related and unrelated fields. Students earning these degrees have gone on to graduate school or immediately enter the work force in many different areas. Some of these include:

Felician University
School of Arts and Sciences
Felician University is a private Roman Catholic college with campuses in Lodi and Rutherford, New Jersey. It was founded as the Immaculate Conception Normal School by the Felician Sisters in 1923, and became Immaculate Conception Junior College in 1942. Enrollment is more than 2,500 students.
Felician College ranked Tier 2 for Best Northern Universities in the 2016 edition of Best Colleges in Regional Universities (North). The university is one of only 20 Franciscan universities in the United States and the only in New Jersey. Students can choose from 55 academic programs. 92 percent of students at Felican receive financial aid. There are 10 Division II athletic programs.

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The BA in Psychology program provides students with a study of the mind and behavior. Students choose from a variety of courses to gain the necessary knowledge and skills, including:

- research and field practicum courses
- an independent undergraduate research course where students develop and present an individual project
Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to enter graduate or professional schools, or enter a variety of careers in areas related to the discipline including:

Students will also learn to act ethically, and recognize, understand and respect human diversity. At graduation, all students should have the following abilities:
- Core understanding of the concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings and historical trends in psychology
- Understand and apply psychological principles as they apply to personal, social, and organizational issues
- Understand and apply basic research methods in psychology, including

- data analysis
- interpretation
- Demonstrate competence in Collection, analysis, synthesis and evaluation of information
- Develop better understanding of their own and others’ behavior and mental processes
- Utilize effective strategies for self-management and self-improvement ·

The School of Arts and Sciences
Founded in 1908 by the Sisters of Mercy, Georgian Court University is a private Roman Catholic university located in Lakewood . The school is operated by the Sisters of Mercy. Georgian Court has over 1,500 undergraduate and 700 graduate students enrolled.

The psychology major provides students with the skills and knowledge in their chosen discipline. It emphasizes scientific literacy and an understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice. The proram provides knowledge of the theories and content of:

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Founded in 1855, Kean University is a public coeducational university with main campus locations in Hillside and Union, New Jersey. Kean University provides students programs in:

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The BA Psychology degree program provides a study of the mind and behavior. Coursework includes many aspects of the human experience, including:

- actions of humans from infant/child development

In every conceivable setting, from scientific research centers to mental health care services, “the understanding of behavior” is the enterprise of psychologists. The BA in psychology requires completion of 124 credits and includes a major capstone requirement. The School of Psychology also offers a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Honors Program. Students must meet minimum GPA and meet with faculty to be considered for this program.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Psychiatric Rehabilitation
The BS in Psychology and Psychiatric Rehabilitation is offered in conjunction with the Rutgers University School of Health Related Professions. It’s for students who want to pursue a dual major in Psychology and Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Graduates will have the skills required to provide independent living skills and vocational rehabilitation for clients who have mental illness. Students take courses for the psychology and general education requirements at Kean. Rutgers University provides Psychiatric Rehabilitation coursework at the Scotch Plains Campus. Upon completion of the program students can pursue three options including:
- Working in the field with a bachelor’s degree
- Enter graduate level programs in psych rehab
- Enter graduate degree programs in other areas of psychology

The dual BA/MA in General Psychology is an accelerated program designed for students wanting to earn their BA and MA in five years. It is well suited for students who want to pursue a doctorate in psychology. The program provides intensive training in research design and data analysis for entry-level careers in:

Students in the dual degree program can participate in 2-3 years of mentored research training in psychology starting in their 3rd year of study. They also may present at research conferences and publish in recognized research journals during their 3rd year. The program also provides an excellent research foundation for candidates for doctoral programs in psychology.
