Bachelor of Science in Forensic Psychology

The BS in Forensic Psychology prepares students to apply their psychological expertise to the legal and criminal justice fields. The forensic psychology major at Saint Rose includes a collaboration of two of the colleges programs:

  • Criminal Justice, Behavior & Law

The field of forensic psychology includes:

  • assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of criminal and civil forensic populations
  • courtroom process
  • organization analysis
  • policy studies

Graduates are prepared to work with those in the psychotherapeutic management and advocacy communities. Forensic psychologists examine:

  • issues
  • controversies
  • social problems
  • psychological states

Forensic psychologists also examine other complex phenomenon in juvenile and adult populations in the areas of:

Students can choose either a basic degree in forensic psychology, a clinical concentration in forensic psychology or a legal concentration in forensic psychology.

  • The Basic Degree is comprised of a core set of classes and selections form courses focusing on:
    • criminal justice
    • psychology
    • law
  • The Clinical Concentration in Forensic Psychology focuses on the applied clinical psychological components of forensic psychology. Graduates of the clinical concentration are well-prepared for graduate programs in forensic psychology leading to careers in:
    • criminal assessment
    • assessment in other forensic settings
    • clinical practice or counseling in a correctional, criminal or other forensic settings
    • police consultation and counseling
    • serving as expert witnesses.
  • The Legal Concentration in Forensic Psychology provides coursework within the context of being an attorney. Students selecting courses with criminal justice and psychological content, however, are required to take additional courses to preparing them for law training. The concentration is designed to accommodate forensic psychology students interested in attending law school.

Dual Jurist Doctor/Bachelor of Science in Psychology

Saint Rose College offers a dual BS in Psychology with a Jurist Doctor (BS/JD) degree program. The school is jointly supported by the Albany Law School, Pace Law School, and Western New England Law School. The program  culminates in a bachelor and JD degree in as little as a six-year period. This dual degree program is open to selected students earning an undergraduate degree in psychology.

The Department of Psychology

Concordia College is a four-year coeducational liberal arts college located in the Bronxville Village in Westchester County. The small liberal arts school is located close to downtown New York. The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art

Humanities and Arts Department

The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art (Cooper Union) is a private coed institution founded in 1859. It’s located in New York’s East Village. The college includes three schools:

  • the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture

Undergraduate enrollment is about 875 students. Students at Cooper Union complete a core curriculum of required courses in the humanities and social sciences during their first two years. Cornell University

Department of Psychology

Founded in 1865, Cornell University is a private coed university located in Ithaca. The university is comprised of seven undergraduate and seven graduate divisions at the main campus. The university also has satellite campuses in New York City and Doha, Qatar. The Cornell Tech campus in New York City is the latest addition. There are 21,900 students enrolled. Cornell is a federal land grant institution of New York State with 80 undergraduate majors and 108 graduate fields of study.

There more than 30 NCAA Division I varsity teams that compete in the Ivy League.

Cornell’s two largest undergraduate colleges are the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The Department of Psychology offers more than 2,400 classes as well as access to nearly 2,000 additional courses in the six professional and applied colleges throughout Cornell.

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

The BA in Psychology program provides knowledge and skills  about the determinants of human behavior. It explores methods used to expand that knowledge to developing critical thinking skills. Students can choose a specific concentration in the following:

  • Social and personality psychology

Students can participate in psychological research and research facilities, including:
