The Psychology department recognizes that as society changes and becomes increasingly complex, the need for specialists in the many fields of psychology will continue to grow. The curriculum provides students a firm foundation in liberal arts education as well as training in the techniques and procedures of scientific inquiry. The specific learning objectives set for by the department are as follows:
1. To teach students concepts, theories and methods of the social and behavioral sciences.
2. To introduce students to the basic social processes of society, social institutions, and patterns of social behavior.

3. Weigh evidence, tolerate ambiguity, act ethically, and reflect other values that are the underpinnings of psychology as a discipline via passage of an online national ethic certification, written assessment of ethical principles, and summative examination.
4. Demonstrate an understanding and application of basic research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis, and interpretation via the development and design of several research projects to include a prospectus and implementation of at least one major project.
5. Practice skeptical inquiry and use of the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and mental processes.
6. Communicate effectively in a variety of formats, to include the presentation of an original research study via a poster or a paper as well as at least one major written assignment in all Psychology courses.

The Bachelor of Arts program in psychology gives students a strong foundation in the science of human behavior and thought. Williams Baptist College

Williams Baptist College is a private, coeducational four-year college in College City, Arkansas community. The college was founded in 1941 as a two-year school. It did not begin granting bachelor’s degrees until the early 1980s. The name of the school was changed in 1991 from Southern Baptist College to Williams Baptist College in honor of its founder and first president, Dr. H. E. Williams.
