Throughout New Jersey, interested students can find undergraduate psychology programs with all of the characteristics they are looking for. Many of these programs offer instruction either fully online or partially online. This allows more students to have the chance to earn their degree. Each student can find a college offering the degree of online learning that best suits their needs. Online learning has many benefits. The Psychology Department
Founded in 1872 as Saint Peters College, Saint Peter’s University is a private, coeducational Jesuit Roman Catholic university. It’s located in Jersey City, with a satellite campus in Englewood Cliffs. Saint Peter’s is one of 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The BS in Psychology curriculum provides students with a core understanding of the disciplines of psychology. This includes:
- what motivates us and how we learn
- what affects our perception of the world
- what controls our emotions
Psychology majors delve into the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. Students can choose a specific area of concentration in clinical, cognitive and forensic psychology. They can tailor their program for entering into graduate study or to meet future career goals. Each concentration requires completion of 15 credits. These do not affect the total number of credits required to complete the BS in Psychology Degree. The Concentration in Clinical Psychology requires 15 credits from the following courses:

Seton Hall University
College of the Arts and Sciences
Founded in 1856, Seton Hall is a private Catholic University named after Elizabeth Ann Seton. She’s the first American-born saint. The university is located in South Orange. Seton Hall offers more than 60 majors in eight schools, with graduate programs in:

Current enrollment is nearly 10,000 students on the 58-acre main campus. In 2016, US News & World Report ranked Seton Hall University as the 123rd best National University. Bachelor of Arts/Science in Psychology
The BA in Psychology program provides students with a broad field of study with coursework. The program is based on using scientific experimental method and statistical techniques. There is pre-professional training to prepare psychology students to apply knowledge and skills with individuals and groups.
Psychology majors study how heredity and environment interact to influence individual behavior. Coursework for the gives students exposure to all areas of psychology, including:
- physiological psychology
- drug and alcohol abuse
- abnormal psychology
- child psychology
Students have opportunities to participate in:
- hands-on research in state-of-the-art computer projects
- human research
- animal learning
- behavioral neuroscience laboratories
The BA/BS in Psychology includes completion of core requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences core curriculum as well as a minimum of 43 or 44 credits in psychology.
Students in the BA program are required a minimum of two semesters of biology and one of mathematics. The program prepares students with a core foundation to enter graduate programs in psychology and other professional and scientific fields, including law and medicine. There is also a five-year Bachelor of Arts in Psychology/Master of Arts in Education (MAE) in Psychological Studies.
The BS in Psychology program is a research-focused program. It’s well suited to students who want to pursue doctoral level programs in psychology as well as graduate study in medicine. In addition to requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences core curriculum, BS in Psychology graduates must complete two laboratory courses in the psychology major. They must complete a seminar capstone and a minimum of 43 or 44 credits in psychology. They must also take two semesters of biology and one of mathematics.
