Throughout Indiana, interested students can find myriad programs offering undergraduate degrees in psychology. Because so many of Indiana’s collegiate level academic institutions are offering Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology, students can be choosy when finding a program. Students can choose from online programs, featuring fully online or hybrid learning programs. They can also choose from a General Psychology Degree or a Psychology Degree that specializes in one of the many specialty areas of psychology. Students many also decide whether full-time or part-time learning best suits their individual needs. With so many options, there is a degree program that works for each student and each situation.
Calumet College of Saint Joseph
The Department of Psychology
Calumet College of St. Joseph is a private Roman Catholic College affiliated with the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. The main campus is located in Whiting, and there are satellite campuses located in Chicago, Illinois and Merrillville, Indiana. The school originated as an extension campus of Saint Joseph’s College. Calumet College offers Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees as well as several certificate programs in several fields of study. The largest undergraduate programs at Calumet include:

Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Calumet offers a BS in Psychology Degree. The mission of the Psychology Program is “to develop appropriate skill knowledge and values for students who expect to continue their education at the graduate level or who plan careers in health, education, business, social, or religious work”. The more specific goals of the program include a wide and interdisciplinary range of cognition and behavior related to:

The training offered allows students to better understand self and others. It helps them understand each individual’s unique potentials. - Have a general understanding and appreciation of the role of human behavior, particularly at the individual, familial, organizational and societal levels
- Demonstrate knowledge of the biological and conceptual languages of the brain and its potential permutations and combinations, and the ability to apply this knowledge to the creation of new frameworks of thought
- Have a general understanding and appreciation of the connection between scientific inquiry and the creative and artistic dimensions in the field of psychology
- Be able to engage in ethical analysis of the profession problems in light of the Code of Professional Ethics outlined by the American Psychological Association.

The College of Liberal Arts
DePauw University is located in Greencastle. It’s a private, National Liberal Arts College and School of Music. The school was founded in the teaching of the Methodist Religion and was originally named Indiana Asbury University. The university is a member of both the Great Lakes Colleges Association and the North Coast Athletic Conference. The university is home to both the first modern-day sorority and the two longest continuously running fraternities in the world. Current enrollment at DePauw is just over 2,400 students. DePauw offers an excellent liberal arts education, which provides students with an opportunity to have training outside of their direct area of study. Students may do so by enrolling in classes outside of their degree area and engaging in Winter Term classes and trips. Earlham College
The Social Science Division
Earlham College is a private coeducational Liberal Arts College located in Richmond. The school was founded in 1847 by Quakers and to this day maintains the Quaker Friends teachings. One of the most important teachings emphasized by the Quaker Friends’ is equality; therefore everyone at Earlham addresses each other by his or her first name. There is no use of titles such as “doctor” or “professor.” Similarly, freshmen are referred to as “first year students”. The school is primarily a residential undergraduate college. It does have two graduate programs, a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Master of Education. In 2015, US New & World Report ranked the college at the 73rd best National Liberal Arts College in the United States. Earlham is included in the book by Lauren Pope entitled “Colleges That Change Lives.” Forbes Magazine ranked the college 92nd among all private and public colleges and universities, 15th among institutions in the Midwest and third among the 18 schools ranked from Indiana.

Franklin College
Franklin College is a private liberal arts college located in Franklin. The enrollment is over 1,000 students. This small, intimate setting allows students to receive individual attention and training from experienced professors. The school was founded in 1834. It was the first college in Indiana and third college in the United States to allow women to enroll. Currently the school offers 36 majors and coursework for the 35 minors. Students who have a clear goal for their academic and career may pursue individualized majors and minors, but they must create a proposal that will be reviewed for acceptance. The entire College emphasizes a strong liberal arts curriculum. All students must be familiar with:

Goshen College
Goshen College is a private Liberal Arts College located in Goshen. The school was founded in 1894 as the Elkhart Institute, and is still affiliated with the Mennonite Church. Elkhart enrolls about 1,000 students. It is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. The College supports a Christian Mennonite learning and social environment, but enrolls students of all different religions. Goshen is most widely known for the Study-Service Term (SST), a program where students learn abroad for three months. During SST the student’s time is split between two unique sections. For the first month and a half all students study the country’s language, history and culture, and typically explore the capitol. The latter month and a half is spent living with host families in smaller cities or rural areas where students complete service work. This work can range from teaching residents to speak English to working on a farm, recording traditional homeopathic remedies to assisting with children at a childcare facility. The Study Service program was founded in 1968 before study-abroad programs became widespread. In 2015, US News & World Report ranked Goshen as the 129th best National Liberal Arts College in the United States. The Department of Psychology’s rigorous program has led to a ranking in the highest 26 percent of all colleges and universities for the number of psychology doctoral degrees. All psychology alumni who have applied to a graduate program have been accepted, whether the program is in business, law, psychology or social work.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The BA in Psychology Degree program has created a department with the ideal learning environment for students. The department includes an intentionally small class size, energetic faculty and a strong emphasis on scientific research methodology. Students choose from a broad range of multidisciplinary courses in cognitive, social, developmental and clinical psychology. Students have access to research opportunities and internships for experiential learning. Some of these internship opportunities include assisting developmentally disabled adults at Elkhart County Clubhouse or counseling students at a local elementary school. Students in the program also participate in regular psychology gatherings. They meet with guest speakers, share research ideas and build relationships with the Goshen community.

Grace College and Theological Seminary
The School of Behavioral Sciences
Grace College and Theological Seminary is a private evangelical Christian institution in Winona Lake. The school is made up of five divisions or schools, all of which are located on the main campus. These include:

The school was originally established as the Grace Theological Seminary, and since the early years has evolved into a part of the School of Ministry Studies. The BA in Psychology major focuses on approaching the study of human personality and relationships with others through a “biblical set of glasses.” The department believes that “there is an intrinsic psychology within our theology, given God is the author of thinking and behavior”. With so many sub-fields of psychology, each student’s course work can be customized to best prepare for a specific area of interest.
Bachelor of Arts in Sports Psychology
Sport Psychology is an interdisciplinary program at Grace College that draws on knowledge from Counseling Psychology and Sport Management and Scripture. It involves the study of how psychological factors affect performance and how participation in sport and exercise affect psychological and physical factors. A Sport Management Minor is required with this major.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
Similar to the BA in Psychology program, the BS in Psychology degree program places a strong emphasis on empirical research skills, mathematical requirements and science requirement.
Bachelor of Science in Sports Psychology
This program is identical to the BA program with the exception of a Math and Science requirement in place of the Foreign Language Requirement. A Sport Management Minor is required with this major.
