Mount St Mary’s University
The School of Natural Science and Mathematics
Mount St. Mary’s University, often referred to simply as The Mount, is a private, liberal arts, Catholic university in the scenic Catoctin Mountains near historic Emmitsburg, Maryland. The undergraduate university is divided into four schools, including: the College of Liberal Arts, the Richard J. Bolte School of Business, the School of Education & Human Services, and the School of Natural Science and Mathematics. The university supports over 40 majors, minors, concentrations and special programs, including bachelor’s/master’s combinations in partnership with other universities. The university also confers seven master’s degree programs and five postgraduate certificate programs. The campus includes the second largest Catholic seminary in the country and has produced more than 2600 priests. Lay students can pursue a Master of Theology Arts at the seminary. Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The Department of Psychology supports a curriculum that has been designed to introduce students to the science and practice of psychology and to better understand the psychological nature of people in the context of liberal education. In addition to training students for graduate programs in psychology or related areas, psychology courses are also effective in educating students in various basic skills that are foundational to other professional areas, including business, law, public administration, and research. The department requires students to develop and conduct individual research projects in order to further develop these basic skills. The Bachelor of Science degree in psychology requires the completion of a minimum of 13 psychology courses (41 credit hours).
Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology
In addition to the traditional psychology degree option, students can pursue a Bachelor of Science in the field of Biopsychology. This is a custom-designed major offered under the university’s interdisciplinary major program. Students who have an interest in this unique major should contact the Associate Provost to plan a program of study.

Notre Dame of Maryland University is an independent, Catholic-affiliated, liberal arts college located within the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The school contains a Women’s College and part-time coeducational degree programs for women and men. Enrollment is near 3,000 with students completing courses in a wide range of degree-granting programs, including:

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree program approaches psychology as the scientific study of mental processes and human and animal behavior. The program is rooted in philosophy and the humanities, with modern developments grounding the discipline as a scientific discipline. The scientific roots create a number of methods in:

- analysis

This BA program draws students to investigate the mechanisms of human experience as well as the behavior of all living things.
Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Neuroscience
The behavioral neuroscience major is for students interested in the biological basis of behavior with primary emphasis on brain-behavior relationships. The program provides a core of biology, chemistry and experimental psychology with an overview of clinical psychology courses. Emphasis is placed on biological and psychological research techniques. During the junior and senior years, students will have a field experience designed to fit each student’s specific career goals and interests.
The behavioral neuroscience major prepares students for graduate training in the rapidly expanding field of neuroscience. It also prepares them for a career as a research technician. Students must complete two semesters of physics, making the behavioral neuroscience major an excellent method of preparation for:
- medical school
- veterinary school
- graduate school
Students interested in medical or veterinary school are offered further specialized advising to prepare them for competitive admissions to such programs.

The Fulton School of Liberal Arts
Salisbury University is a public university in Salisbury. The university offers 58 distinct undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of areas. Salisbury is a member of the University System of Maryland. The Department of Psychology
St. Mary’s College of Maryland was established in 1840. It’s a public, secular (non-religious) and co-educational four-year liberal arts college located in St. Mary’s City. The college is considered a public honors college, one of only two colleges with this distinction in the country. Enrollment is just under 2,000 students. Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The goal of the psychology major is to “enhance your understanding of behavior and mental processes and to examine their connection to other disciplines”. Students have the option of studying 6 subject areas within the discipline of psychology, including:

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences
Stevenson University is a private, independent, coeducational university located in the Greenspring Valley area. The university is made up of campuses in Stevenson and Owings Mills. There are almost 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
Degree programs throughout the university employ a core curriculum in the liberal arts with a unique career emphasis. The university uses a program called “Career Architecture”, which is linked with the curriculum. This program teaches students to strategically plan for their futures by developing resumes, practicing interviewing techniques, meeting with potential employers on-campus, and participating in internships and co-ops. The BS in Psychology degree program helps students acquire a thorough, cohesive, and empirically-based understanding of human behavior. Psychology majors learn to apply this understanding to have a positive impact on the lives of others. The program is for students who have a keen interest in how humans think, feel, and behave. There are four components to the program:
- Clinical application of psychology, where students learn about people with psychological disorders and how to help them

Students must be junior psychology majors with a minimum of a 3.4 overall GPA and a 3.6 GPA in psychology.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Clinical Psychology Area of Focus
Once accepted into the Clinical Psychology Area of Focus, students will gather valuable hands-on clinical experiences through small, specialized classes and internship experiences. To be considered for the program, students must be in their junior year of study with a minimum of a 3.4 overall GPA and a 3.6 GPA in psychology.
