Over the past 20 years, the state of Colorado has developed a reputation for offering a variety of options for Bachelor’s Degrees in Psychology. These programs range from large-scale universities with millions of research dollars to small, intimate college settings. The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) is one of the campuses that make up the University of Colorado system, the state university system of Colorado. Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Degree program prepares graduates for either immediate employment or graduate studies in psychology or a related field. Graduates will be able to fulfill the following Student Learning Objectives:
- Display knowledge of several areas of specialization in Psychology (i.e., abnormal, biopsychology, cognitive, developmental, measurement, methodology, personality, and social)
- Demonstrate competence in scientific reasoning, information gathering, and writing skills. Following the American Psychological Association guidelines, students will utilize their scientific reasoning skills to write a research article based on a literature search using information-gathering skills (e.g., library, internet, etc.)
- Psychology majors will find their course of study to be useful in obtaining employment or pursuing an advanced degree.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
The University of Colorado Denver / Anschutz Medical Campus, was shortened to University of Colorado Denver or UC-Denver. UC Denver is a public research university and is one of three schools of the University of Colorado system. The university has two campuses — one in downtown Denver at the Auraria Campus, and the other at the Anschutz Medical Campus in nearby Aurora. The consolidated university is the outcome of the 2004 partnership of the University of Colorado at Denver and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. US News & World Report ranks UC Denver #190 amongst all Public Universities. The Princeton Review included CU Denver in its Best Western Colleges, Best in the West in 2008. Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology Program introduces students to the broad nature of sub fields in the study and practice of psychology, including:

- industrial/organizational psychology
Students are also exposed to research methods and inferential statistics in psychology. The BA program prepares students for employment as well as for graduate study in psychology and related fields. The BA program focuses more on the social aspects of the study of human behavior and psychological function.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology Degree Program focuses mostly on the biological, scientific and biochemical basis of behavior and cognitive function. The degree program prepares students for immediate employment as well as graduate study in many areas of psychology and related fields, including neuroscience and biomedical research. Coupled with additional discipline-specific requirements, this degree program provides a good foundation for pre-health majors. The BS program has a heavy biological and physical sciences emphasis.

The University of Denver (DU) was established in 1864. It’s the oldest private university in the Rocky Mountain Region of the United States. The University of Denver is a coeducational, four-year university and enrolls about 5,000 undergraduate students and 6,000 graduate students. The main campus is a designated arboretum and is located about seven miles south of Denver. Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
Students entering the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program will be required to fulfill the following in order to graduate:
- Meet all University Bachelor of Arts core curriculum and degree requirements
- Complete a minimum of 40-credit hours of general psychology courses
- Complete a maximum of 60-credit hours with a PSYC prefix
- Complete at least 25-credit hours of upper-division psychology courses (2000 level and above)
- You must have a GPA of at least 2.0 overall AND within the major.
Students graduating from this program are prepared for careers or graduate studies in psychology, sociology, social work and a variety of other career options.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience Concentration
In addition to the BA in general psychological study, students can choose to pursue a concentration in Cognitive Neuroscience. In order to complete the concentration, students must fulfill all of the BA in Psychology requirements as well as several courses designed to prepare you for a career in cognitive neuroscience. This degree allows you to enter the workforce immediately or continue on to graduate training in psychology.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Science also offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology Degree. In order to earn the BS Degree students must fulfill the following requirements:
- Satisfy all University BS degree requirements (see bulletin).
- Major in psychology with:
- Two minors (one in natural or computer science or mathematics), OR
- An additional natural or computer science major, or a mathematics major with one minor.
- Complete at least 45-credit hours of psychology courses
- Complete at least 25-credit hours of upper-division PSYC courses (2000 level and above).
Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience Concentration
Similar to the BA in Psychology program, students in the BS Cognitive Neuroscience program are required to fulfill all requirements set forth to earn a BS in general psychology. There is an additional curriculum that must be completed in classes related to Cognitive Neuroscience.

The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences
The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) is a coeducational public institution of higher education in Greeley, Colorado. The school also has satellite centers in Loveland, Colorado Springs and the Lowry neighborhood of Denver. UNC is the fifth-largest university in the state by student enrollment. Western State Colorado University, also known as Western, is a four-year public liberal arts college in Gunnison, Colorado. About one quarter of the 2,500 students are out of state students. Governor James Orman established the college as The Colorado State Normal School for Children in April of 1901. In 1923, the college’s name was changed to Western State College as its role greatly expanded from a teaching institution to a prolific Liberal Arts College. The Behavioral and Social Sciences Department combines various disciplines of both behavioral and Social Sciences. It also looks at human behavior and the contexts – environmental, social and historical – in which they occur. At Western, many students pair majors in Behavioral and Social Sciences with minors in other disciplines, such as Education, Business, and Environment & Sustainability. Or they pair majors in these programs with minors in the Behavioral & Social Sciences.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program are exposed to a wide range of psychological topics and concepts. The curriculum covers a broad base of the theories and historical concepts that underlie the practice and study of psychology. Students are expected to develop basic skills in writing, critical thinking, and use of technology. Students in this program will also have the opportunity to be involved in hands-on laboratory work. As students advance in their experience and knowledge, they can participate in individual projects under faculty supervision in:

- the animal laboratory
- the sleep laboratory
There are also internship opportunities available outside the classroom with such programs as:
