The College of Arts, Sciences and Letters – The Department of Behavioral Sciences
The University of Michigan at Dearborn is located on the outskirts of Detroit. The university was founded in 1956 on land donated to the university by Ford Motor Company and The Henry Ford Estate. This campus of the University of Michigan College System is now marked as a National Historic Landmark.
Students can choose from 78 bachelor’s degree options, 33 master’s degree options and 4 doctoral or specialist programs. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of over 7,000. The university utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. The mission is “providing an inclusive, student-focused institution committed to excellence in teaching, learning, research and scholarship, as well as access, affordability, and metropolitan impact”.
In 2016, US News World Report ranked the University of Michigan-Dearborn as 36th best Midwestern Regional University. The University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolves varsity teams participate in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The BS Psychology Program at UM-Dearborn for students who plan to pursue careers in human services or related fields or to earn graduate degrees in psychology or a closely related field. Coursework provides study in the following areas:
- natural science (including learning and memory, sensation and perception and physiology)
- cognitive (thinking, problem-solving, and language)
- developmental (process of human growth)
- social (influences of groups)
- clinical/abnormal (understanding and treating people with psychological disorders)
- industrial/organizational (applying psychological principles to the work)

- Core knowledge of principles of Psychology to demonstrate familiarity with major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology

The College of Arts and Sciences
The University of Michigan-Flint is a public coed university founded in 1956. Undergraduate enrollment is about 7,000 students. It is one of the two University of Michigan satellite campuses, along with the Dearborn campus.
In 2016, US News and World Report ranked the University of Michigan – Flint as the 99th Best Midwestern Regional University. The College of Arts and Sciences provides students with more than 70 majors in the liberal arts and sciences. Bachelor of Arts or Science in Psychology
The BA in Psychology degree program is for:

The curriculum examines behavior and mental processes at a variety of levels. Psychology majors will learn:
- to understand how people perceive their environment

By understanding mental processes students gain a deeper understanding of people’s problems. They’ll learn procedures for dealing with these problems. The differences between the degree options available are as follows:
- The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Research Psychology is for students preparing for doctoral study or professional medical education. The curriculum provides students with the general skills and knowledge of psychology principles required for research-oriented graduate programs.
- The general track (BA) prepares students for study in areas such as animal behavior, biological psychology, clinical psychology, cognition, developmental psychology, learning, social psychology, personality, and other field requiring empirical research.
- The pre-medical track is tailored to serve students interested in attending medical school.
Psychology majors must complete 124 credits for degree completion. There are six concentration programs in the Psychology Major Program including:
- General Program (BA in Psychology)
- Research Psychology (BS in Psychology)
- Applied Psychology (BS in Psychology)
- Honors Program in Psychology (BA Psychology)

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
Wayne State’s BA degree in Psychology prepares graduates for careers ranging from healthcare and counseling to business and marketing. It also prepares students to graduate programs. Students receive a liberal arts education combined with core knowledge in the principles of psychology. The program focuses on:

Students are required to complete 120 credits, including a minimum of 32 credits in psychology. Additionally, students are required to complete coursework in a foreign language.
Bachelor of Science in Psychology
The BS degree program is similar to that of the BA program. Students planning to pursue graduate training in psychology or a related field would benefit from this program. Psychology majors in this program are not required to complete foreign language credits. However, they will have to complete additional credits in math, science and lab courses.
